Hello watch lovers, today I want to present you a new microbrand that has just launched a new Kickstarter campaign for their First model, La Mer.
Nex Watches is a Norwegian microbrand based in Oslo and their first model consists in very nice little diver, something that fits everything, and everyone, anytime, and everywhere.
With slick Norwegian design, inspired by the rugged mountains, and the beautiful fjords, Nex watches has used the finest materials and their favorite watch components, to a price everyone can afford.
Their first model is caracterized by a very nice Pop-Up Black Dial.
The dial they chose is inspired by the mountainpeaks, and the way it shimmers in the light will remind you of Norway’s coastline.
The sapphire glass is scratchproof, and the watchcase is made of 316L stainless steel.
I think that the most interesting featureof the watch is absolutely the Super Luminova on the bezel.
La Mer – Why Buy?
The most important point of this watch is for sure the price range, with 250€ you can have an automatic diver with 316L stainless steel, super luminova (hands, indices and bezel), wooden box with rubber strap included.
Of course this is the kickstarte starting price so that is Why the price is really good but if you are looking for a norwegian design without spending so much money, La Mer could be the right choice.
Let’s take a look to a new microbrand from France called Obelus Watches!
They are now live with a campaign on Kickstarter!
OBELUS has given a facelift to one of the most popular designs from the watchmaking history “Chronograph”, to create its inaugural watch model “OBELUS RETRO CHRONOSCOPE”, designed by an enthusiastic watch lover in Versailles (France).
OBELUS, as a micro watch brand, proposes a unique “Dressy / Sports / Coloured” style distinct from those available in the market.
The purpose is clear to share a passion in amplifying the heritage of the tool watch, while paying tribute to the timeless designs originated in the past.
Obelus Watches – a deep look
The first time a saw this watch I remember that I really like the concept of a really elegant chronograph but at the same time with a lot of color options and a good versatility.
This starting from the case to the dials.
You can see immediatly the attention for the details, with red and withe hands and numbers of the dial.
There are 2 type of case finish:
316L stainless steel polished and hand finished brushed
316L stainless steel with black DLC treatment, shot blasted
Abouy the dials there are 5 different color options for every mood/occasion.
Another interesting feature of this watch is the microseconds withe/red hands with also the 24h display with lunar/sun indicator at 3 o’ clock.
This is not a common feature on watches that are in this price range, so really good point!
The date at 6 o’ clock is really easy to find and read.
Obelus Watches – Specifications and prices
Here are all the specifications of these timepieces and kickstarter options:
Obelus Watches – Why Buy?
Despite there are a lot of Microbrands that are making chronos I have to say that Obelus is probably one of the most interesting I ever write about on my site.
The ratio quality/price is really good for a mecaquartz chrono with Seiko Movement and with also a very fine leather straps, display with lunar/sun indicator and all these color options starting from the case with DLC treatment.
A really elegant timepiece that you can use everywhere.
Obelus Watches – site and Kickstarter
If you really like this watches you can find here all the info to purchase and contact the owner!
I just found on Instagram a really cool microbrand called MT&W that live on Kickstarter with their first campaign!
MT&W is a new microbrand founded in 2021 and inspired by the vintage style of the Seventies.
Some of their favourite designs came during this decade, including the Omega Chronostop, the Zenith El Primero, and the Fortis Marinemaster.
By the Seventies, the chronograph watch had come to resemble the designs we know and love; curved lugs, three subdials, and a tachymeter bezel were all key characteristics that you will find in this microbrand MT&W!
Eclipse is their first model and this watch combines a vintage shape with a slimmer, contemporary case.
One of the most noticeable ways the brand balances vintage style with modern detailing is through carefully selected colors.
MT&W – the Patina dial.
Patina is a scientific process that occurs naturally over the years through oxidation and can be quickened with the help of chemicals.
It gives certain materials like metal and wood a tarnished finish with subtle fading and changes in the surface texture.
Simply put, patina is an effect that gives items a more aged appearance.
These days, the technique is frequently used by luxury fashion brands to give jewellery and accessories an antique finish.
MT&W Microbrand – the color choice
All the Chrono watches are characterized by a range of distinctive color schemes as you can see.
Unlike more traditional colourways such as the familiar black and white Panda, the Eclipse aims to do something a little unexpected.
This name comes from the contrast created when the dark backdrop and subdials meet the lighter tones of the golden dial – an effect which resembles three moons eclipsing a sun.
The most unique aspect of the Eclipse watch is in the finer details.
Designed in a classic Tachymetre style, the bezel is finished in a matte black tone along with the dial background and three subdials.
While it’s common practice to combine opposing colors and tones like whites and blacks, MT&W wanted to do things in their way and break with this tradition.
All of the numbers and markers are also finished in matte black, complementing rather than contrasting the other elements of the design.
The result is a unique combination of dark tones that keeps things low profile, while the deep red minute and second markers on the main dial catch the eye nicely.
As always with MT&W’s timepieces, the dial is finished with their signature patina effect, which lends an antique touch to the design and ensures every watch is truly one of a kind.
The case of the Eclipse is crafted from hand-polished 316 stainless steel with a double curved lug.
They assemble the golden patina dial with Seiko VK63 movement, which allows the watch to retain its slim shape once it’s all put together.
MT&W’s skilled watchmakers assemble each piece by hand, combining the black bezel with thick dome crystal.
When it’s finished, the whole watch measures just 12.7mm in thickness, while the 40mm case allows it to maintain a classic appearance on the wrist.
It’s time to discover new watches on Kickstarter and today I want to present you the microbrand Fledderman von Rieste and their first timepiece!
This campaign will feature The Muncher, a Swiss Made small seconds dial watch and is now available on Kickstarter from today (May 1) for 60 days.
The May start of their campaign positions for delivery of production watches to backers by December of 2022.
The Muncher is a watch inspired by the Bavarian capital with an independent streak as strong as its economic might.
The residents of Munich have long enjoyed a harmonious existence with their surroundings, and take every opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty in and around their city.
The Münchner – discovering the watch
This watch has a 44mm polished medical grade stainless steel case.
Both case sides feature parallel lines representing the twin spires of the Frauenkirche, a defining feature of the old city’s skyline, and a foundation of the city for centuries.
The dial is where The Münchner stands apart from other watches.
The small seconds’ complication at the six o’clock position harkens to Munich’s independent streak.
The framed small seconds sub dial serves as a tribute to the famous city squares where Münchners come together. Like Munich and its residents, this watch does things its own way and on its terms.
This watch is super comfortable and three dial options are available:
Victory Blue – Charcoal or Antique Map
The centerpiece small seconds dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal featuring water resistance to 300 feet.
The heart of the Münchner is a Sellita SW260 series automatic self-winding movement, the SW260, born in the heart of Switzerland, features 31 jewels and an impressive 38-hour power reserve making sure you are always the master of your time.
Also the clasp of the watch is very elegant and Fledderman choose a very nice deployant option.
Fledderman von Rieste – Why Buy?
This watch has many features and I have to say that for the price and the movement that this microbrand is offering I totally suggest this timepiece, especially if you like Munich and you like this style of watch.
Despite we re talking about a dress watch, The Muncher is very versatile for different occasions!
It is time to discover new watches on Kickstarter and today I just discovered The Ugly Watch Co!
The UGLY Watch Co, has given a facelift to one of the most iconic designs in watchmaking history, the “Sport Watch”.
Not redefined but re-imagined, with four Mother of Pearl Dials to choose from: Classic Black, Pink, Purple and Blue.
The UGLY Watch Co. is paying homage to the golden age of Sport Watch history by re-imagining the well-known classic style and adding a new take on the affordable luxury Sport Watch.
It has a little larger 41mm case than the 36-38mm cases from the 70s and 80s, to satisfy modern tastes that gravitate toward styles with a larger case design while preserving the shapely silhouette inherited from the vintage sport watch style, staying loyal to the original essence.
As a Microbrand watch company, The UGLY Watch Co. promotes the spirit of defying the current status quo and distinguishing their unique Sport Watch look from others on the market today.
These guys share their passion for preserving the history of classic dress, yet casual sport watch while paying homage to classic styles from the past.
At 41mm and 48mm lug to lug with a total thickness of 11.1mm, this case is crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The highly polished fitted Stainless Steel bezel, the brushed finish on the center case body extends to the contoured lugs, ensuring an exceptional fit and finish for the bracelets solid end links.
Finally, the case is finished with high polishing on top and bottom.
First and for most, Mother of Pearl! We love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.
Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent inside lining of a mollusk shell. Its an organic substance that gives mother-of-pearl its iridescent effect and distinct beauty.
This multicolored iridescence is caused by the way light reflects on the layers of nacre on the shell.
While continuing to pay attention to detail, we have applied three dimensional highly polished rectangular hour markers at all 12 positions, with a strip of BGW9 SuperLuminova applied to the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock markers as well as a small strip of lume at the end of each hour marker. There is also a simple bordered date window at the 3 o’clock position.
Three dimensional polished logo at 12 and the word AUTOMATIC at the 6 position. Keeping a minimalist approach allows the iridescence of the Mother of Pearl to take center stage
Super-J Louis bracelet is more than an upgraded version of vintage J Louis watch bracelet.
All links are composed of solid 316L stainless steel.
Screw-in adjustable construction instead of pressure pins to keep it solid and stable. With its 22mm width tapered down to 18mm at the clasp.
This Super-J Louis Jubilee watch bracelet is designing for diver or sport watches.
The UGLY Watch Co. 100m Sport is sealed with a stainless steel exhibition screw down case back that shows off the ST2130 High Beat Automatic movement with perlage polish on all bridges and Geneva stripes on rotor.
Despite the name of the company these watches are ubsolutely not ugly and I really like the remind to the vintage old time but with a modern view.
The materials are really good and I think this brand has made an intelligent use of both lume and mother of pearl, creating a very interesting watch to add in your collection!
Where to buy?
Available from today april 22 on Kickstarter for only 289$!
Today is time to take a look to a new microbrand called Satori Watches and to their first collection The companion collection!

Unlike the classic microbrands this watch is powered by the famous Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with 38 hours of power reserve.
This movement features second hacking for precise time-telling and hand-winding for on-the-go moments.
Despite we are talking about a microbrand, the presence of this movement is a step forward in comparison to classic Kickstarter watches.
Companion watch is recognizable yet innovative in its design, it features an eye-catching bezel with faceted detailing that creates a visual impact.
The case is a robust 43mm diameter, fully machined marine-grade 316L Stainless Steel, measuring 46mm Lug-to-Lug and completed with a sleek bead-blasted Satin effect.
This collection is divided into four distinctive dial colourways, for tonal styling, discreet Covert Black and a contemporary Metropolis White, for the expeditioners the Forest Green and Marine blue.
I also really like the caseback and the choice of use a screw-down is really good because as we are talking about a famous swiss movement we don’t need to see it.
Also the clasp and the crow have the “S” Satori logo. Really nice!
Satori watches – Adaptable to any environment
The Companion watch is synonymous with adventure.

New watch is coming soon on Indiegogo on february 28 (after fully funded on Kickstarter) and is called August Raurica, founded by Stefans Inkovs!
Today let’s take a look to a really cool quartz watch that blows my mind.
First of all the name August Raurica would inspire and show status.
August Raurica is named after an old Roman city in Switzerland that existed in 44 BC.
August Raurica has chosen the caliber 715 movement from the Swiss company Ronda, a gold-plated movement with a long service life of 5 years.
This watch is caracterized by a 39 mm diameter, 60 months battery (5 years) 316 stainless steel and sapphire crystal.
Finally we have a nice dress watch with sapphire crystal and italian leather straps, so we are not talking about a cheap classic fashion watch, but you can understand from the materials and design that we are talking about a really cool and well made timepieces.
One of the most interesting things is the case back of the watch.
Deep engraved matte finish, depicting a Roman who defeats an invader.
The enemy may be real or even inside you.
This engraving will always remind you to try and believe in everything, even if others don’t.
Another really nice thing i like about this watch is the match between colors and materials. As you can see the case, dial and strap create a good harmony fro our eyes.
This is my favourite version of this cool microbrand August Raurica but as you can see there are a lot of option thanks to the different kind of straps, dial and case options.
August Raurica – Packaging
The packaging is really minimalist and classic.
Filled with minimalism and showing that there should not be anything unnecessary in it.
While creating the packaging, they also took care to make it environmentally and logistically sustainable.
In true essence to ther environmentally sustainable beliefs, your 5-year warranty will be attached to your watch number.
Launch day price is 139 usd and full price is 239 usd!
I talked personally with the founder Stefans and i understand a lot of things about dress watches and how companies think when they make timepieces.
A lot of companies what always to spend less money as possible and take much profit as possible, giving to the watch lover a watch with no value but asking a lot of money.
August Raurica is not one of these company and Stefans invested a lot of time and savings to create a watch with important features, swiss movement, sapphire crystal and very thin case to let the watch lover feel a good sensation on the wrist.
If you want to take this opportunity check out their site here!
Today i want to present you a new special travel watch that will be soon on Kickstarter and it’s called the Monro Adventure made by Monro Design Studio LtdTM.
This timepiece is designed for function, form, longevity & comfort and the cost is under 199£ so we are talking about a very affordable watch.
The Monro Adventure is a watch made for people who love to travel and is robust enough to withstand all the environments a global adventurer would experience.
As we are talking about a travel watch, this timepiece could not only show a second timezone for whichever destination is next on the itinerary but is able to calculate it across the 24 timezones of the world.
The Monro Adventure is caracterized by a 44m solid stainless steel 316L case with polished finish and Swiss Ronda 515.24H movement.
It is available in different colors options:
MA-1 URBAN BLACK
MA-2 DEEP SEA BLUE
MA-3 SUNSET ORANGE
MA-4 WOODLAND GREEN
MA-5 URBAN BLACK X
Monro Adventure – attention to the details
This travel watch has a lot of different very well thought details like the Crown grips, for example, match the forward motion design of the bezel and have a coloured logo according to the function they control.
At 4 o’clock the colour matches the GMT hand and at 2 o’clock the colour matches the world city ring.
The concentric aperture in the minute hand allows the hour hand to be visible at all times while the GMT hand, inspired by the location pin drop of their logo, is finished in a contrasting colour to the dial for clear reading of the second timezone.
The case itself has been perfectly considered for comfort and strap change flexibility with the curved loop style lugs providing excellent wearability.
Also the complexity of the case requires precision CNC manufacturing with the inovative lug system finished by hand.
Lugs themselves also allow for the more rugged 44mm bezel diameter to appear smaller on the wrist.
The case back has been designed to incorporate a GMT scale to help determine which months of the year require you to make calculations based on daylight savings.”
Monro Adventure – the packaging
Another interesting detail about this timepiece is the packaging, really simple but at the same time very original and consists on it’s own travel passport.
Encased in a FSC approved, recycled paper box in a rich burgundy leather grain finish with silver foiled detail, the case and two straps are securely fitted in a soft black eco-friendly EVA material ensuring complete protection for its Adventure.
I have to say that for US$295 is impossible to find something like that with these features. You can have a titanium watch with premium Miyota movement 9015 and 1 Year warranty.
This is an interesting dive timepieces and i never saw something like that before.
So check out their kickstarter campaign on february 15!!!
