Grand Seiko “Yukigesho”

The new Grand Seiko Yukigesho Hi-Beat GMT mechanical timepiece, inspired by the beauty of the Japanese winter landscape.

Nature for Grand Seiko is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the realization of its watches, able to evoke landscapes and evocative atmospheres through meticulously studied details.

The new Hi-Beat GMT model “Yukigesho,” SBGJ271, continues this philosophy with finishes inspired by the Japanese winter landscape.

The dial is in fact worked in such a way as to recall the mantle of fresh snow, or yukigesho, which rests on the branches of trees. The result is a pattern that gives depth and movement to the dial that can attract the eye.

The hands and indexes are polished to capture light and ensure maximum readability. The black GMT hand, along with the 24-hour indication, allows the wearer to quickly follow a second time zone.

The sober and refined aesthetic combined with intuitive functionality, make the Grand Seiko SBGJ271 watch an excellent travel companion.

A modern reinterpretation of the early 1960 Grand Seiko design, the case with curved lugs measures 39.5 mm in diameter and is 13.9 mm thick. Made of stainless steel and polished with the Zaratsu technique, it is topped by the box-shaped sapphire crystal of vintage inspiration.

The watch is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet with triple folding clasp.

This timepiece is powered by the Hi-Beat 36000 GMT 9S86 high-frequency caliber, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, which offers up to 55 hours of power reserve with an accuracy of +5/-3 seconds per day and GMT function.

It is thanks to the use of lightweight components made possible by MEMS and the use of Spron alloys for the main spring and the spiral that the Hi-beat movements of Grand Seiko can maintain such a power reserve while operating at a speed of 36,000 bph.

The new Grand Seiko Hi-Beat GMT “Yukigesho,” is available from March 2023 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected retailers worldwide.
