You know I am always searching for new Microbrands to talk about and today I want to present you Atmoss Watches.

Warrick the founder has spent the past decade flying small, low tech aeroplanes throughout Australia after working a design role on architectural projects.

He has always had a strong appreciation for mechanical watchmaking, which is what’s driven Warrick to spend the past 4 years designing and developing the Atmoss SR-01 – his modern take on a classic pilots instrument.

Atmoss Watches – a “new vision” pilot

Despite we are talking about a pilot and you know there are many of them on the internet, this one is really different from the classic you find outsite. Especially for the bezel.

In particular in this case we have a 41mm 316L Finely Brushed Stainless Steel Casing with a very Slim 10.5mm Case Edge Thickness (11.4mm including domed sapphire), a very manageable 48.5mm lug-to-lug and a Bi-Directional Smooth Action Bezel with Pilots Slide Rule function. Which, if you’re not familiar with, is fundamental tool use by pilots to perform calculations mid-flight, or on the ground in planning for things such as fuel burn or planned flight time and more. It’s also a handy calculator that you can use day-to-day for currency conversions and to calculate percentages.

Personally I really like the contrast between the blue hands and the white dial but also the grey one looks really good.

The watch has a good water resistance of 100m protecting the premium Japanese Miyota 9039 movement so is a really great “every day watch” also during summer or all the seasons.

The watch presents also Swiss BGW9 Lumen Applied to Hands and Index Markers.

The SR-01 comes standard with a stainless steel engineers bracelet, and for kickstarter, it will include a secondary High Grade FKM Rubber Strap Colour Matched to Dial Features (there are 3 dials options, black – white – grey. This strap gives to the watch a different look, more modern and not similar to the classic other pilots.

The Atmoss SR-01 will be launching on 1st of May Australian time on Kickstarter (30th April for USA and some parts of eurpoe/UK). with the first pricing tier coming in at 347USD/320EURO/280GBP
